White Church Notices 6th November 2021

Dear Church Friends,

Hello everyone. Well, the weather played an enormous trick on us for Hallowe’en last Sunday. Heavy rain and gale force winds caused havoc over much of the country and parts of Fylde were flooded with some roads closed. On Monday we had a rare visitor in our garden, as a grey wagtail spent some time bobbing its tail up and down moving around the patio. I have seen pied wagtails in the garden but not a grey one. Not long afterwards three squirrels were playing on the lawn chasing each other and also the magpie which was around. Squirrels raid our bird feeder most days, but we only usually see one squirrel at a time and so are never sure how many different ones there are.

As the worlds’ countries come together to discuss the future of the climate, I have come across an article which writes about how some people in the past have coped with extreme weather conditions. According to the writer: “Meghalaya in northern India is considered to have the highest level of rainfall in the world. All that precipitation regularly floods streams and sweeps away bridges. So the locals grow tree roots from one bank to the other, intertwining them to create living bridges which can withstand the worst floods. Such amazing feats take decades and are often done over two or three generations – but generations more will walk safely across those bridges. We might never get to become bridge builders in that way, but in striving to pass on the best of the past, when it comes to love, wisdom and caring for the planet, to the next generation we too can become living bridges.” People’s inventiveness is remarkable. Out of adversity come solutions.

Unfortunately the scaffolding has not been removed this week, so if you don’t have a problem with mobility please leave the parking area around the pedestrian entrance available for those who need it. Thank you.

Let us pray

Dear Lord Jesus,

We pray for those at the COP26 discussion this week and pray that countries can work together to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. We pray for those who are facing change in their lives. Please watch over them, give them strength and show them your love and compassion. Thank You God for all You have given to us, including Your grace. Help us to extend Your grace to others and be mindful of others feelings.
We ask this in Your name. Amen

Please join me in saying the Grace together.

May the Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Love of God and the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all, now and evermore. Amen

God Bless you all

Ruth
