On 21st October twenty members and friends from Fairhaven, St Annes and Elswick URC’s took part in a sponsored walk around Fairhaven and Ansdell to raise money for the Stuart Gay Memorial School in the Gambia. The walk was followed by delicious soup and apple crumble prepared by ladies from the White Church.
The school was founded four years ago in Nema Kunku Township for children aged from 5 to 7 years. Since it was founded the school has grown from 6 children attending to 93 children attending and it is supported entirely by donations from the United Kingdom.
