Hymn: Freedom is coming! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZgUC6YHC40)
Help me God
Help me be a prophet who seeks and speaks wisdom
Help me be an advocate who slays the dragons that threaten the weak
Help me be a teacher who introduces the wonders of God
Help me be a witness who testifies with power and insight
Help me be a good neighbour who sows harmony
Help me be a visionary who sings songs of hope. Amen
You say “I am allowed to do anything” – but not everything is good for you (1 Corinthians 6:12).
We’ve reached a day that many in the country will be hailing as Freedom Day; the perceived lifting of national restrictions imposed during the pandemic. However, we are painfully aware that within the life of our church we face continued pressures. We find ourselves continuing to support families whose lives have been directly and indirectly impacted by the virus. We stand alongside of people who may be anxious or fearful of the virus.
We hear that “we can do anything” but we know that for the greater good we must continue to make sacrifices. Such a disciplined approach to our lives and work will take its toll. Yet in the midst of all this there are many things that are good for us personally, good things that despite continued restrictions, we are free to choose.
Can I encourage you to choose these good things today; those things that edify, build you up, feed you, encourage you, and keep you strong.
Thank you for your continued patience.
Rev Jim
Lord, take me where you want me to go
Let me meet who you want me to meet
Tell me what you want me to say
And keep me out of your way. Amen
