Call to worship

Blessed are you, Sovereign God, creator of the universe.
Your Spirit brooded over the face of the waters at the beginning of creation, bringing light out of darkness and order out of chaos.
You created us in your own image, you blessed us with memory, reason and skill, you made us stewards of your creation.
Though we rebelled against you, you became one of us in Jesus, the word made flesh, to establish your kingdom of justice and peace, and lead us back to you.
And so we glory in your presence, God our creator, redeemer and sustainer, and lift our voices to proclaim your praise.

Blessed be God, now and for ever.

Amen.

God,
Holy, blessed and glorious Trinity, you dwell in unapproachable light and yet invite us to be guests at your table.
You are the creator of the universe, yet love each one of us with a love that is without limit.
You are mystery, yet call us to seek you and find you.
You pour out gifts on us and call us into fellowship with one another and with you, through your Son, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.

Amen.

And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age
(Matthew 28:20)

God is not distant or aloof. He wants us to have a relationship with him, so he sent his only Son, Jesus, to lead us to salvation. Jesus fulfils God’s promise to be with us always. In the last words from the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus assures his disciples that his love and presence are eternal. Even to this day, we receive Jesus in the Eucharist, our spiritual food, which strengthens us on our journey.

Prayer of confession

Holy God, holy and strong, holy and immortal, have mercy on us.
Holy God, we bring to you our need and pain, asking for your mercy.
Holy God, we bring to you our wounds, asking for your healing.
Holy God, holy and strong, holy and immortal, have mercy on us.
Holy God, we bring to you our broken world, asking for your justice.
Holy God, holy and strong, holy and immortal, have mercy on us.
Holy God, we bring to you all our sin, asking for your forgiveness.
Holy God, holy and strong, holy and immortal, have mercy on us.

Let us live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with us.

Amen.

Prayer of thanksgiving

Holy and undivided Trinity, one God, we give you thanks and praise for a world full of wonder, for all that you have made good, and for our lives in your service. We give you thanks and praise.

We give you thanks and praise for your love revealed in our frailty, for your faithfulness in calling us back again and again to your open heart. We give you thanks and praise.

We give you thanks and praise for the communities of faith we form together, bearing witness to your eternal trinity of love. We give you thanks and praise.

We give you thanks and praise for your love without limit, constantly poured out for love of our love. We give you thanks and praise.

And we join our voices with angels, and all the holy ones of God, to proclaim your glory: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!

Amen.

Going out prayer

Holy Trinity, one God, empower us by your presence, and fill us with your love.
Take us and form us as people of good news to praise, love and serve you that the world may believe. Glory to you, now and for ever!

Amen.
