On Sun 12 November our Remembrance Service was led by Stuart Gay, Salvation Army Envoy.
During the Service, Stuart was presented with a cheque for £1,000 by Outreach Elder, Jan Hirst. This was a gift of money raised by the White Church to continue our help with the funding of the Stuart Gay Memorial School in Gambia.
The sum was raised mainly from the recent Walk for Africa with a top-up of money raised in other ways. This is the 4th successive year of donations from Fairhaven URC that have made a real difference to nearly 100 children who would otherwise have no schooling at all.
Stuart had also been presented with a donation of £530 from Elswick URC children. This amount was the result of sponsorship and donations from the Church and School and has taken the total raised for both sites to a magnificent £1530.
